Social Interaction Groups

Social Interaction Groups give children the opportunity to interact with peers through the facilitation of a certified speech pathologist. This program is direct group speech therapy based on individual goals and objectives written by the speech therapist, IFSP and/or school IEP and focuses on children needing social interaction skills. The speech pathologist will help children to reach their Social Interaction goals, which could include the following:

•  Improve appropriate responses to a peer

•  Improve initiating appropriate responses to a peer

•  Increase Circles of communication

•  Show interest in others

The speech pathologist will help the children achieve their goals by focusing on the following objectives: stay on topic, make appropriate comments, increase sentence length, requesting, negotiating, responding to questions appropriately, answering when spoken to, initiating interactions and ideas, refusing, sharing, appropriate play, developing an interest with their peers.

Our groups run bi-weekly for an hour each session. We have groups for ages 2yrs to adult. Activities will include but not be limited to: opening and closing circles, facilitated play and discussions and role playing regarding specific social skills. See What's New on this website for more information.
