ServicesGroups: Social Interaction Groups (SIG) - We meet every other week for 1 hour. The groups are broken down according to age; however we are flexible in grouping to meet your child's needs: *3 to 5 years old *5 to 7 years old *9 to 13 years old *13-17 years old *18-24 years old Children in the Age Groups of 3 to 7 Years This group of children learn how to play together, initiate interactions, respond to their peers, stay on topic, stay at an activity with their peers, use appropriate volume and tone of voice, how to get other's attention, and more. This setting is not structured, it is made to be a therapeutic play time with their peers. The therapist moves through the room making sure no child is playing alone and facilitating initiation and responses. The kids make friends and look forward to each group. Please call Baio Enterprises for dates and fees. Adolescents and Teens in the Age Groups of 9-17 These groups are more "academic" by way of talking about a specific social skill each week and practicing it. Besides working on specific skills we also work on learning how to make and maintain friendships, some of this is through our Friendship Journal we do at the beginning of each group. Each kid puts a topic on the board that they want to be asked about and the group goes around the room asking their friends questions, learning to pay attention and show interest by asking follow-up questions, and then learning how to "tie up" a conversation with a closing remark. Other activities include Group Projects where they are given points for participating in generating ideas, for helping the group present their ideas, and for coming up with "non-ordinary" ideas. These groups seem to double as a support group for the kids, where they feel very comfortable being themselves. Please call Baio Enterprises for dates and fees. Young Adults in the Age Groups of 18-24 This group is presented by Sue Golublock, M.Ed., OTR/L (see bio under About Us/Staff) and co-presented by Marti Baio, M.A., CCC-SLP (see bio under About Us). Saturday Casual Social Interaction Groups ages 9-17 (Marti Baio, M.A., CCC-SLP)and 18-24(Sue Golublock, M.Ed., OTR/L) These groups meet once a month on a Saturday for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. This group is not meant to provide therapy, but to provide a place for teens and young adults to come and "hang out" with others. The one rule that is enforced is that no person is to be at an activity alone; they need to find at least 1 other person to "hang out" with. We recommend each person bring their own snack so that special diets can be respected and bring a drink if you want something other than water. These groups have been very successful from the participants point of view because they have FUN, and the parents appreciate the opportunity to have a scheduled "play date" for their child and an opportunity for their child to be with other peers. You don't need to be in any formal therapies here at Baio to take part in our Saturday Casual Groups. Please call Baio Enterprises for the 9-17 year olds (480-963-3634) Sue Golublock for the 18-24 year olds (480-802-8259)for Saturday dates and fees. Services: C.E.R.P.A.S.
